Live Interaction Overview

Isn't this cool...we can have a fully online course and still be able to have virtual meetings!! It's kind of like the best of both worlds...you can complete all assignments in a fully online environment AND you can meet with others in the course periodically, too. We will use a tool called, Zoom, for our "live" meetings and interactions. We'll use this tool in a couple of ways:

GROUP MEETINGS
- Group Meetings will be a time for discussion, clarifying any questions about the concepts in the reading. Plus, we will also review key points to strengthen learning.
- We'll schedule a Group Meeting at least once during each module, which should end up being about every other week.
- The meetings are NOT required...but are there to help you gain a better understanding of our material or to discuss any confusing points.
- Meetings will be recorded and if you cannot attend, you are welcome to watch the recording.
- FYI...these aren't lectures. They are more like highlights & open discussion.
INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS
- Individual meetings work like virtual office hours, only they are scheduled on an as-needed basis
- Individual sessions using Zoom allow us to share our computer screens to share greater detail or resolve technical issues.
- Students are also welcome to meet via phone or in person...Zoom is just one option.

All About Zoom

Zoom is a web-based meeting tool. It allows for multiple types of interaction including video, audio, whiteboards, screen-share, etc. I personally recommend downloading the Zoom app to your desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone (yes, it even works great on a phone). You can view and interact through all of these devices. For phones and tablets, please visit https://zoom.us/download#mobile_app to download the mobile app. You can also search for Zoom in the iTunes App Store or the Google Play store.

Technical Requirements & Support for Zoom

When you create a Zoom account, please use the first and last name that are used in Canvas and your Raider email account.

Technical Requirements:

A desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone with an internet connection.
The device above needs to have a microphone and a camera.
You can also use the Chat area during class to ask a question, if you don't have a microphone or camera.
